Maison de la Danse

For over forty years, the Maison de la danse has been a key player on the French and European choreographic scene, presenting between 35 and 40 international companies each season to an audience of 150,000. As a European center of creation, it supports the projects and influence of its associate artists, assists the development of emerging regional companies and supports world premieres programmed at the Maison or at the Lyon Dance Biennial.

From September 2023, under the direction of Tiago Guedes, the Maison de la danse project will evolve and become MAD: Maison + Ateliers + Danse. In autumn 2026, the Maison de la danse will inaugurate the Ateliers de la danse, a place for artists to create and amateurs to practice, with a 400-seat auditorium and two rehearsal studios. La Maison, a physical space, and Les Ateliers, a space currently being prefigured, are two complementary venues projects that will provide the city of Lyon with a model that is unique in the world, serving choreographic creation, artists and audiences alike.

A place of artistic excellence accessible to all, our theater is equipped with a 1,100-seat auditorium, a dance studio, a video room and several reception areas. The Maison de la danse is an ideal platform for companies wishing to develop their network, increase their influence and convey the principles of innovation, exchange and creation associated with dance. It offers a unique setting evocative of theater, dance and music hall, ideal for events of all kinds, from 10 to 1,100 people.

For each rental, a technical service is provided to welcome you in the best conditions, meet your expectations and ensure the safety of your event. Sound, lighting and video equipment can be rented and installed on request.

La Maison de la danse can also handle invitation management, with its customizable online ticketing interface. Endally, our artistic teams can help you integrate one or more dance performances into your event.
