Book the liberation of paris museum, prepare your next victory

A dive into the history of the Liberation of Paris, in a classified pavilion on the Place Denfert-Rochereau.

The museum opened its doors in its new location on a symbolic date: August 25, 2019 for the 75th anniversary of the Liberation of Paris. It allows visitors to understand a fundamental page of French history through the journey of two very different men, Jean Moulin and Philippe de Hauteclocque. Their stories accompany the visitor through the rooms presenting more than 300 objects, original documents, photographs, archival videos or testimonies that evoke the resistance, the fighting, the repression, the clandestinity and the recovered freedom.

Under the museum, you can discover a high place of the Liberation of Paris: the command post of Colonel Rol-Tanguy.

Cool for those interested in such history. The VR experience is not bad too. Was expecting a little more original pieces but it's quite good overall.

I visited the museum when I was unable to get into the Catacombs across the street. This was a backup plan, but I'm so glad thing unfolded this way since the museum offered so much more than I could have hoped for! There was super friendly and knowledgeable staff. All the exhibits were very informative and well put together. My favorite part was the AR (augmented reality) tour of the underground bunker - guests get to wear an AR headset and experience some 3D interactions with period-specific characters during the underground resistance. Check it out!

At first I was a bit reluctant to visit this museum, but when I came out I had a completely different perspective. It tells how Paris was liberated from the "you know who" during the second world war. It shows the roles of Charles de Gaulle and other generals. The MOST IMPORTANT part of my visit was the WW2 BUNKER -PC ROL TANGUY, where they gave us AR headsets while we were in the bunker and it was a really amazing experience. It's a ½ an hour experience totally FREE and a must visit. The only thing is you need to climb down and get up a 100 stairs. Just next to catacombs and easily accessible.

I highly recommend a visit to this museum, especially before or after Catacombs. This is a great exhibit and FREE! A well told narrative with lots of museum artefacts, videos, storyboards in French and English. Extensive story of France in WW2, it was very informative and I learned lots of new information. Thank you 🙏

A gem of a place once you've already seen the Big Sites. It's in a lovely location. The people in the museum are very kind and helpful. It's the new location for this museum, and they've done a fine job of providing an interesting experience with lots to learn about. A tiny issue to me is that it's almost tooooo cleaned up. A little grit would probably have been more realistic.
