Under the patronage of the Duke of Orleans, the first horse races took place on May 15, 1834. The "Prix du Jockey Club" was created in 1836, the "Prix de Diane" in 1843. Inaugurated on May 28, 2004, the Domaine de l'Hippodrome de Chantilly, located opposite Château and the Grandes Écuries, combines tradition and modernity while respecting the architecture of the grandstand dating from the end of the 19th century.

Nowhere else is a racecourse bordered by a fantastic château , one of France's favorite monuments, and a building as majestic and imposing as the Grandes Ecuries des Princes de Condé, all on the edge of a forest...
Chantilly is also the venue for two of the most prestigious events in the France Galop program, namely the Prix du Jockey-Club (since 1836) and the Prix de Diane Longines (since 1843), which has become a symbol of elegance and femininity that remains today. In 1998, a public interest group called "Initiative pour un Développement Durable de Chantilly" was created to administer the site.
