The Arsenal is a historical monument, located in the Place Forte of Mont-Dauphin, which is inscribed on the World Heritage List as a Vauban fortification. It was built between 1751 and 1757 and is 60 meters long and 14 meters wide.
Following the raid carried out in 1692 by Victor-Amédée II, Vauban proposed to improve the defense of the Alpine border. The place was named Mont-Dauphin in honor of the king's son, the Grand Dauphin. Completed in the 19th century, it was never besieged. In 1713, the Italian border moved away, removing any strategic dimension from it. The only act of arms to be deplored in three centuries was the bombing of a wing of the arsenal during the Second World War.
The lower room, with a surface area of approximately 400 m², is made up of seven bays, separated by double basket-handle arches. It is illuminated by six windows and opened by a central portal in the south façade, which opens onto a semi-enclosed adjoining esplanade, offering a panorama of the surrounding peaks and valley.
Your guests will particularly appreciate the peacefulness of this grandiose panorama of the peaks. Under the superb vaulted ceiling of the lower room, which can accommodate more than 200 people, enjoy a suspended moment far from the daily frenzy.
We offer the lower room for rent for any private or professional event.
The village offers various possibilities of accommodation on site. Guided tours of the monument and the exhibition "Little Bighorn" by Ousmane Sow can be combined with your event.
