"I'm going to tell you the most astonishing, the most surprising, the most wonderful, the most miraculous, the most triumphant, the most astonishing thing...". Madame de Sévigné

Musée Carnavalet: your stunning B2B event in the heart of historic Marais

At the Musée Carnavalet - Histoire de Paris, visitors have a rendezvous with the memory of the capital. And all this within the Renaissance walls ofone of the oldest private mansions in Paris, long occupied by the famous letter-writer Madame de Sévigné.

In 1866, this jewel became the first museum dedicated to the history of Paris. In 1989, the Hôtel Le Peletier de Saint-Fargeau was attached to the original museum. Today, the whole complex forms an enchanting cultural and heritage site in the exceptional Marais district of Paris. After closing for major renovations in 2016, the museum reopened in 2021.

Book Musée Carnavalet: the breath of time for your business meetings

  • The temporary exhibition rooms: imagine an exclusive tour of the works before your large-scale evening event, or a studious seminar in the heart of the largest collection of art and historical objects dedicated to the capital.
  • Overlooking a delightful square, the 222 m2 Orangerie offers flexible space for breakfasts and corporate meetings, as well as fashion shows and photo shoots.

5 stars for effort of the trustees to collect and present the history of Paris from pre historic times to 19th century. It is quite an undertaking for a private enterprise. You will get in 90 minutes of how Paris transformed from a medieval town to one of the great city of the 19th century. And it is FREE. No need for advance tickets and there are lockers to keep your stuff whilst you walked the 3 floors. See highlights below

This is one of my favorite museums in Paris. You can learn a lot about French history, architecture, decor, and art. There are several rooms that were relocated to Carnavalet from other places such as hotels from around town. You can easily spend a couple hours here. It is also no cost to enter for the permanent collection, which is incredible.

No queue, no required reservation, free! And outstandingly diverse and big, with a colossal work on renovation. Almost all periods of history are covered (unfortunately not the Imperial ones). 1h40 for a quick visit. Lots of small hidden rooms. Friday afternoon in holiday period wasn't packed with people. Free and secure locker area for bags.

A most extraordinary museum which is free of charge. This is a great way to introduce yourself to the history of Paris. It has an amazing collection of art, artifacts, complete room interiors and is set out over periods of time including pre history in the lower level. There are free lockers, a gift shop and lift access between floors. A fabulous place.

Completely free, super large and extensive museum that covers the whole French history. Beautiful building, varying themes introduced, info available in English as well. Great location, and even on weekend I got in without any queueing. Nice bookshop that has some good books in English as well to learn more about the history of France. I highly recommend reading a bit of the French history to get even more out of the experience, and playing close attention to details. For example the earrings displayed in one photo are a very interesting piece of history if you look closely.
