Book the Arc de Triomphe for a summit event

An imperial building

In 1806, Napoleon I decreed the erection of an arch to the glory of the Grande Armée on the Place de l'Etoile. The project was entrusted to Jean-Arnaud Raymond and Jean-François Chalgrin.

Plans were hastily drawn up and the foundation stone was laid on 15 August 1806, the Emperor's birthday. Thereafter, Chalgrin alone drew up a new project which, in terms of architecture, was respected by his successors. When Chalgrin died in 1811, the monument was still only 5.40 meters above the ground.
With the return of the Bourbons in 1814, the work was stopped. Work resumed under the reign of Louis XVIII and was completed in 1836, under Louis-Philippe.

Symbol of the glory of the French armies and national unity, the Arc de Triomphe is decorated with four groups sculpted by Rude, Cortot and Etex. The frieze of the entablature unfolds a huge bas-relief narrating the departure and return of the French armies.

For the interior of the monument, the architect Chalgrin had not planned any ornamentation. It was in 1835 that the idea of inscribing the names of the 128 battles of the Republic and the Empire, as well as those of the generals who took part in them, was born under the vault decorated with Roman-style caissons.

The beating heart of all major events

Since the end of its construction, the Arc de Triomphe has been the center of major events such as :

  •  The return of Napoleon's ashes on December 15, 1840
  • The Brotherhood Day in February 1848
  • The passage under the Arch of Emperor Napoleon III on December 2, 1852
  • The national funeral of Victor Hugo
  • Etc

In turn, choose this grandiose symbol for your next professional event. Offer your guests a unique experience in the heart of the Golden Triangle.

Both a great historical monument and a major venue for major national events, the Arc de Triomphe offers spacious interior rooms that are steeped in memory. Its terrace with a unique panorama on the most beautiful avenue in the world offers visitors a view of the whole of Paris.

In September 2023, I visited the Arc de Triomphe in Paris and had a wonderful time. The monument is truly impressive, with its grand architecture and detailed sculptures. Although I didn't climb to the top, I still enjoyed the visit immensely. The history behind the Arc de Triomphe added to the experience, making it both educational and enjoyable. Walking around the base and taking in the intricate details was fascinating. Overall, it was a memorable visit, and I would recommend it to anyone traveling to Paris.

Add this to the Must-See list when in Paris. Forget about what you may have imagine it to be. It is spectacular! It is much taller than I imagined (thanks Emily in Paris), and it's more beautiful than any pictures can do it justice. Expect to give yourself a couple of hours at most to really absorb all of the city views and the Eiffel Tower across the distance. Time it perfectly before the sunset and you will have a magical sunset over Paris on a clear day. Be warned! You will have to climb up approximately 330 steps that are windy all the way to the top. While they do have an elevator, I didn't see it being used, but it is available to those who can't walk (elderly, children, diaabled). Otherwise, get ready to huff and puff your way to the top. It's worth the sweat and tears!

What an amazing view of Paris and the Eiffel Tower. So if you're like me and when you travel you like to go to the first observatory that you see, this is probably the first one that you should go to. You'll be able to get a beautiful picture of Paris and you'll be able to include the Eiffel Tower, which makes it even much better The line was extremely simple even simpler. If you have a ticket ahead of time I'll say probably took us about less than 10 minutes to get to the top. Once you get to the top part not all the way to the top there's educational stuff and a little shop. I will highly recommend coming in here if you're in Paris.

An amazing arch structure right in middle of Paris, a very good area to walk around the arch. We reached by bus and did the trip up the arch as well. The views from the top are amazing. Do this if you have time. Winding stairs to climb up are nice but can be a bit tiring. Buy tickets in advance and expect a queue for this.

Queue is still needed despite getting ticket in advance, but it moved fast. The stairs up can only accommodate one at a time. The view on top is magnificent. Gotten the 530pm ticket and stayed from 6-7pm to catch the sunset and Eiffel tower light up. Yes its crowded, but once in a lifetime experience.
