Book the Catacombs of Paris for an original professional event
An unusual tour in the heart of one of the most popular historical sites in Paris.
Where the heart of Paris beats
At the end of the 18th century, the Parisian authorities made a decision that would change the face of the capital forever: the evacuation of certain cemeteries under the old Tombe-Issoire quarries, under the plain of Montrouge. Exploited since at least the 15th century and then disused, these quarries constitute a small fraction of the labyrinth that stretches under the city on about 800 hectares.
In 1886, the quarries were even blessed and consecrated. They became the municipal ossuary under the name of Catacombs, in reference to the catacombs of Rome, object of public fascination since their discovery. However, it was not until 1809 that they opened their doors to the public and became a "monument" in their own right, attached to the history of the city.
Object of all curiosity, the catacombs of Paris were built in the galleries of old quarries whose stones were used for the construction of the capital. Twenty meters underground, the ossuary gathers the remains of several million Parisians. The presence of sentences, poems and other secular or religious texts adds a meditative dimension to the tour.
A unique place for an unforgettable professional meeting
The largest underground ossuary in the world, the Paris Catacombs are a must-see among Parisian monuments: a 1,500-meter long path at a depth of 20 meters, for an extraordinary visit.
Welcome your guests with a cocktail and offer them the possibility to live a unique experience by allowing them to visit the Catacombs of Paris outside of public opening hours. The Pavillon Ledoux is the ideal place for a confidential and surprising reception.
