Hôtel Le Marois
Book Hôtel Le Marois, a sumptuous Private Mansion in the golden triangle
The Hôtel Le Marois was built in 1863 by Comte Le Marois, a great art lover and collector. His father, General Le Marois, had distinguished himself on the battlefield and was Napoleon1st 's best man at his wedding to Josephine de Beauharnais.
The building stands on the site of Private Mansion , the home of Marie Duplessis, a courtesan renowned for her beauty and wit, who ran a salon frequented by the intellectuals and men of letters of the day. She inspired Alexandre Dumas fils to write La Dame aux Camélias, and Verdi to create the character of Violetta Valéry in La Traviata.
Private Mansion remained the property of the le Marois family until 1927, when it was sold to the Association France-Amériques, founded in 1909 by French diplomat and academician Gabriel Hanotaux to promote relations between France and the American continent.
Located in the heart of the Golden Triangle, the salons France-Amériques have established themselves as the capital's premier event venue, with an exceptional 850 m² of floor space, including a terrace and 8 reception areas.
Push open the doors of this sublime Private Mansion with its typically Haussmann-style architecture to discover lounges steeped in history, harmoniously blending 18th-century French and Napoleon III styles with more contemporary lines.
Fully equipped and air-conditioned, its reception areas are served by a grand staircase, richly decorated with wood panelling and allegorical paintings, and benefit from a magnificent terrace at the foot of the Grand Palais.
