Nevers, a city of romance and industry

Bourgogneranks brilliantly as France's fifth-largest region in terms of both surface area and economic dynamism. And just two hours from Paris, it offers us a jewel in the heart of the Nièvre: Nevers.

Une Belle Nivernaise, heroine of novels

Cradled by the Loire River, the town has long enjoyed international renown for its works of fiction, which have become part of the world's literary heritage.

Thanks, first of all, to two women, inseparable from each other. As a woman of letters, Madame de Lafayette gave life to one of the most famous female fictional characters: the Princesse de Clèves, wife of the son of the Duc de Nevers.

Then, in 1857, Paul Féval immortalized the "boot of Nevers" in his famous cloak-and-dagger novel, The Hunchback a fencing stroke as fatal as it is imaginary.

Nevers Val de Loire, a land of industry

But the beautiful Nivernaise is also an industrious town: as early as the 17th century, Nevers established itself as the epicenter of earthenware in France. The tradition continues today, under the creative impetus of exceptional master craftsmen.

Nevers and the Loire Valley region are bursting with ideas and initiatives: with Territoires d'Industrie Nevers Val de Loireindustrialists have joined forces with local authorities to breathe new life into a region rich in historical capital.

The town also boasts a special place in the French landscape: along with the Nevers Magny-Cours circuit, it is considered a historic temple of Formula 1 racing.

With its past and its future, Nevers, a city with a prestigious heritage, is positioned as a city with high event potential, with superb venues open to privatization.

Three exceptional venues for your business events in Nevers

For a studious seminar, a corporate meeting or an exclusive dinner, Nevers offers three venues heritage sites to suit your every need.

The Ducal Palace

In the historic heart of the city, the Ducal Palace of Nevers imposes all the prestige of its tradition. Architecturally, it bears witness to the very first châteaux of the Loire Valley. Built by the Count of Nevers, Jean de Clamecy, it was home to the counts and dukes of the Nivernais region.

In the 1980s, Pierre Bérégovoy, a historic figure in the Nièvre region, launched a major restoration project for the Palais Ducal. Today, this exceptional building houses the Town Hall, permanent exhibition halls and reception areas. The latter lend themselves well to professional privatization, with top-of-the-range facilities adapted to conferences and teamwork.

For a studious meeting with a small group or a cocktail party for 170 guests, the Palais Ducal welcomes you in a professional and friendly atmosphere.

The Earthenware Museum

Frédéric-Blandin Museum of Earthenware and Ende Arts

A visit to the Musée de la Faïence et des Beaux-Arts Frédéric-Blandinin the old earthenware district of Nevers, is to go back over the course of Nevers' industrial history, and history in general. In 1566, an Italian nobleman, lord of Mantua and governor of Piedmont, married Henriette de Clèves. As part of the marriage, he received the dukedom of which the beautiful woman was heiress. Ludovico Gonzaga thus became Louis IV de Gonzague, Duc de Nevers.

In return, he brought Ligurian ceramists to the town. Thanks to this impetus, Nevers became France's leading pottery center in the 17th century.

The Musée de la Faïence et des Beaux-Arts, with its superb medieval-inspired garden on three levels, offers a peaceful setting for prestigious business cocktails.

Nevers municipal theater

A tribute to Louis Gonzague and his Italian origins? Nevers' municipal theater offers a dazzling style, with its neo-classical-inspired architecture.

Inaugurated in 1823, Milan's "Little Scala" underwent several waves of restoration. One of the most important, in 1899, followed the tragic fire at the Opéra Comique. On this occasion, artist Émile Vernon created one of his finest works, the painted ceiling of the auditorium.

Weakened by a bombing raid at the end of the Second World War, the building closed in 1971 for a decade, before reopening in 1980. Completely renovated and equipped with state-of-the-art technical facilities, the Nevers theater is a heritage site dedicated to culture and business. Its Italian-style auditorium can accommodate up to 350 people. The foyer is ideal for cocktail parties or gala dinners.
