Institut Giacometti: an artistic showcase in the heart of Montparnasse

Located in the 14th arrondissement of Paris, just a stone's throw from the Fondation Cartier and Place Denfert-Rochereau, the Institut Giacometti is part of the artistic heritage of Montparnasse, a district favored by the greatest artists of the 20th century. Housed in a sumptuous Art Deco Private Mansion , it offers an intimate and refined setting where the soul of the famous sculptor Alberto Giacometti resonates through his reconstructed studio and previously unseen works.

A place steeped in history and creativity

The Institut Giacometti comes to life in the former home and studio of decorator Paul Follot, a listed building. This architectural masterpiece, designed in a refined Art Deco style, has been restored to preserve its precious woodwork, light fittings and period stained glass windows. Since its opening in 2018, it has unveiled rare Giacometti sculptures and drawings to visitors, as well as temporary exhibitions celebrating his artistic genius in all its forms.

A unique setting for exceptional events

Immerse your guests in the intimate world of one of the 20th century's greatest artists. Ideal for prestigious professional events, the Institut Giacometti hosts seminars, conferences, cocktails and exclusive dinners in an elegant, hushed atmosphere. Intimate, inspiring spaces

A stunning and ingenious renovation, making full use of every inch of space while still providing ample room for both exhibits and visitors' visual experience. Through the elegant introduction by the staff, one can understand that while this modern space is impressive, it is not always the most convenient-books tend to fall off, and the ticketing area at the entrance has a layout that makes it easy to knock over brochures onto the floor. During the visit, I deeply felt how easily this Art Deco-style space could become crowded. Although Giacometti's works remain unaffected by any external factors-just like his lifelong journey of self-exploration and reflection-limiting visitor numbers would certainly make the experience more comfortable. I was delighted to purchase postcards as a way to show support. The staff possessed extensive artistic knowledge, handled all inquiries with elegance, and professionally reorganized any accidentally displaced items. They maintained composure while making an effort to communicate in English (French being the primary language) and even handled agitated visitors with humor-this truly impressed me. I recommend purchasing tickets in advance. If the venue is too crowded, please be patient, as forcing your way in will not bring you joy. I plan to revisit during an off-peak period for a more thorough experience.

The museum is located in a beautiful Art Deco building, which itself is worth the visit. The space is both elegant and intimate, perfectly showcasing the works of the iconic sculptor, Alberto Giacometti. 🏛️ Inside, you'll find a rich collection of Giacometti's sculptures, drawings, and personal objects. The exhibits really give you an insight into his artistic journey and the evolution of his distinctive style. The museum's design complements the art so well, offering a serene and thoughtful atmosphere. 🎨 If you're a fan of modern art or architecture, this place is a must-see. It's a hidden gem in Paris that perfectly combines the charm of Art Deco with the genius of Giacometti. Highly recommended! 🌟

Small foundation with absolute masterpieces of Giacometti, including his partly reconstructed studio. The building has nothing to do with Giacometti, but it's a very interesting building that has belonged to another artist. Sculptures are beautifully displayed and daylight adds to the atmosphere.

A recreation of Giacometti's studio is the star attraction of this museum. Housed in a beautiful art nouveau building that also exhibits contemporary works in response to Giacometti. Worth a visit if you're an art lover.

Small and not so interesting unless you are really a big fan of Giacometti. Probably the most interesting things are some original paints by Dali. This museum is really small and when I visited it it was overcrowded. Hard to enjoy.
