An 18th century pleasure house
The château of Jossigny is a witness of the architecture of the pleasure houses built in the XVIIIth century.
It was built between 1745 and 1750 for Claude-François Leconte des Graviers, adviser to the Fifth Chamber of Investigations of the Parliament of Paris, by the architect Jacques Hardouin-Mansart de Sagonne (1711-1778), the last of the illustrious Mansart dynasty.
In 1745, Claude-François, Count des Graviers, had the old family manor house from the 14th century demolished and began construction of the current château on the site of the old building, thus preserving the foundations and the original vaulted cellars.
